Attorney General vote thwarted by SDKU

As expected, the second round of the vote on the Attorney General post failed thanks to a tactical boycott by MPs from coalition leader SDKU.

They did this by collecting ballot papers to prove their presence, but then didn’t enter them in the vote, meaning nobody got half of all present votes.

Eva Misikova (supported by coalition parties SaS, KDH and Most-Hid) got just 47 votes, while current AG Dobroslav Trnka got 68 votes in favour. There were 144 MPs registered for the vote, which means 27 did not vote, while 2 votes were ruled void.

Now the coalition will have to get back to the drawing board and decide on a candidate that all four of them agree on. They have to do this before the December parliamentary session.
