Customs Catch Bulgarian-Slovak Tobacco Smugglers
Customs officers made another sting at the weekend, when they caught six men smuggling in excess of four million cigarettes and seven tons of tobacco into Slovakia.
The six men, 2 Slovaks and 4 Bulgarians, were arrested on Saturday with the contraband tobacco, which was produced at some illegal plant. The men could now face jail time of up to 8 years.
If the goods had made it onto the market, Slovakia would have been deprived of around a million euro in duty.
