Thanks pretty much to the car industry, Slovakia enjoyed a foreign trade surplus of EUR 207 million in June, well above the figure of around EUR 140 million seen last year.

According to the Statistical Office, the 10.1% y-o-y growth in imports was met with an 11.4% growth in exports. Over 1H 2011, export growth of 20% just pipped imports of 19.9%, keeping the balance at EUR 833.6 million above the line, an improvement of EUR 171 million over the previous year.
