Police Catch 6 Afghan Asylum Seekers

The police have apprehended six asylum-seeking Afghans being transported in a truck from Turkey after an employee from the company owning the truck contacted them.

The men, aged 16-25, were caught on Wednesday in Trebatice and had been on the road for about a month and a half. They had allegedly travelled by car through Pakistan and Iran, by foot into Turkey and then on last stage of their journey by truck from Istanbul

The 48-year old Turkish driver of the truck is said to have charged them EUR 5,000 each for the passage. All the six men have requested asylum in Slovakia.
