President Klaus on 3-Day Visit to Slovakia
Czech President Vaclav Klaus started a 3-day official visit to Slovakia today, during which he is having meetings with his Slovak counterpart Ivan Gasparovic, parliamentary chairman Richard Sulik and Prime Minister Iveta Radicova.
Klaus, who is visiting with first lady Livia Klausova, will be discussing ways of deeper co-operation between the two countries, with joint efforts to boost transport infrastructure also high on the agenda. They will also be discussing the takeover of the Visegrad 4 presidency from Slovakia, as the Czech Republic takes up the role on Friday 1 July.
The two countries have strong economic ties and a healthy trade balance, which in 2010 came to EUR 12 billion.
