A 17km stretch of the D1 motorway in the direction of Bratislava was closed down by police today following an accident involving three cars.
The driver of a Daewoo Matiz was probably not concentrating when he hit an Opel Vectra that had broken down in the middle lane of the three-lane section of motorway, which incidentally has no hard shoulder.
The third card was a Skoda Octavia, which crashed into the side of the Daewoo before smashing into the barriers, news wire SITA informed.
A helicopter was sent to the site of the accident fearing the worst, but fortunately nobody was seriously injured. None of the drivers failed a breathalyser. damages are estimated at around EUR 4,000.
