Alternative mobile phone operators move in

The market of mobile phone operators is changing as small alternative operators start to realise the potential open to them.

At present Slovakia already has five alternative mobile operators operating on the networks of the top 3 mobile phone operators T-Mobile, Orange, and Telefónica O2.

It was electronics retail Nay that started the trend, offering people the chance to buy their SIM cards and get cheaper calls. It was quickly followed by Tesco and then internet provider Swan.

Now the cash&carry operator Metro is offering its cards using the network of T-Mobile, while the FunFon offer of Radio Fun is promoting its cards through Orange sales points.

The trend looks set to continue and so the choice of operator might eventually be a daunting affair.
