An honour for V. Weiss Jr. from the ‘Czech’ Republic?

A rather curious case appeared in Glasgow, Scotland, where local vendors were selling Glasgow Rangers flags depicting Slovak midfielder Vladimir Weiss.

It is surely an honour for the young 21-yr old Slovak footballer, but he will probably not be that pleased as his image is set against the background of a Czech flag instead of a Slovak one.

Rangers supporters have said the mistake is embarrassing. The punters outside Ranger’s Ibrox Stadium are finding it hard to sell the flags now, but many have already been sold since Weiss arrived on loan from Manchester City to Rangers in August 2010.

Some are calling for Rangers to snap him up before it is too late.

  1. Wherever he ends up, I just hope he is playing first team football. The danger with Slovakia’s better players moving to the absolute top clubs is that they risk not getting enough first team game time and then not being sharp for the internationals. That’s exactly why the move to Rangers was so good for Weiss in the first place. Can see him staying in the Prem though ..

  2. Once Vladi has helped Rangers do the double, he should either return to Man City and help them win the prem or he should join Messi at Barcelona! 🙂

  3. Great story John, think Vladi is a bit older than 12-yrs though, despite his baby-faced appearance!
