Another shady land deal costs hospital director his job

Yesterday, Health Minister Ivan Uhliarik announced that director of Bratislava University Hospital, Miroslav Vadura, had been dismissed due to the state hospital selling off a key plot of land in the Kramare district of the city.

The hospital decided to sell 7 hectares of land at the ‘bargain’ price of EUR 5.72 million to ‘the only bidder’, which is several times less the market price for land in this area. The lucky bidder, the company Kramare Lands, was only set up last autumn, coincidently just before the hospital the call for tenders.

The contract has not officially entered into force, but it is the buyer that has the option of withdrawing based on a pending litigation with the former owners.
