AU Optronics set to recruit in Trencin

Taiwanese LCD television set maker AU Optronics, which has established an operation in Trencin, will start recruiting thousands of manual workers at the end of August to work at the plant. The company already filled management and other senior positions last month.

On a national comparison, the region of Trencin has a low unemployment rate of just 7 percent. The recruiters assigned with the task  of getting the line workers are still confident, though, despite the possibility of a lack of skilled workers.

Last year AU Optronics announced its plans to invest over EUR 191.3 million in the Trencin plant over the space of three years. The plant should have a workforce of 3,300 with some 700 jobs expected to be generated in supplier companies. The company hopes to launch production at the beginning of next year.

AUO was formed in September 2001 by the merger of Acer Display Technology, Inc. and Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation. In October 2006, AUO merged with Quanta Display Inc. to create a leading TFT-LCD manufacturer. The company prides itself on its ‘green’ manufacturing policy.
