The private company responsible for security at Bratislava Airport could be facing a hefty fine as it has been operating without a license since the beginning of the year, which means it possibly has also been in possession of weapons illegally.
The company received its renewed license at last on Friday, but the police will now investigate whether the company was in breach of the law. Proceeding have already been initiated and will examine whether the company was authorised or not to hold firearms and ammunition.
The problem came about as the company failed to apply for its new license on time, meaning it had a period of limbo when it possibly operated illegally. If found guilty, the company could face a fine of EUR 33,193 for each offence, meaning for illegal possession of firearms and for operating a security service without a license.
