BA: Laughter Guaranteed at English Comedy Night

Baby Blue Banana is proud to present Bratislava’s only regular English stand-up comedy night again this month with two more top international acts flying over specially to perform for us at KC Dunaj.

24 August 2011 8pm

Mark Felgate (UK) and Mark Restuccia (UK)

Live at KC Dunaj, Nedbalová 3 (4th Floor)

Tickets: €9 per person in advance or €10 at the door

Mark Felgate is a man with unique talents. His startling abilities as a ventriloquist, combined with a mischievous sense of humour, have helped him become a sought after act on the stand-up comedy circuit across the UK and around the world. Mark throws his voice to create side splitting routines and his performances include an impressive array of vocal acrobatics.

Whilst Mark will be immediately recognisable to parents as one of the most regular faces on Nickelodeon TV, his talents stretch much further than entertaining children, with more than 15 years experience as one of Britain’s most talented and unusual stand-up comedians, with numerous appearances on TV and radio during that time.

Opening the show will be Mark Restuccia, one of Britain’s rising stars of comedy, who has spent the last 3 years collecting awards across the UK. Mark will be treating us to a glimpse of his solo debut show from the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A regular at comedy clubs around the UK, including Jongleurs and The Comedy Store, Restuccia’s cutting edge style has won him the Comedy Café New Act Competition and numerous other accolades.

What the critics say about Mark Felgate:

“Right on the funny bone and his voice throwing talents are very original– The Stage

“He’s a good mix of stand-up and verbal acrobatics” – Time Out

What the critics say about Mark Restuccia:

“It was clear he got a genuine thrill from making people laugh, a kind of sincerity that’s becoming more and more rare in good comedy” – Leicester Wave

“A constant ripple of giggles kept his set alive and the clapping and whooping showed a job well done.” – DorsetComedy.com

“His act was like a Royal toilet – always polished but often filthy” – Channel4.com

Our MC for the evening will again be popular Slovak comedian Milan Sedliak. As usual at our comedy nights, you can expect plenty of laughs and a few surprises along the way too. This show will again be at our new venue, KC Dunaj, which is right in the centre of Bratislava, in SNP Square. The entrance is around the back in Nedbalová and then take the lift to the 4th floor. Look out for the Baby Blue Banana signs! If you haven’t visited this brand new cultural centre before, you are in for a surprise! It’s a magnificent, purpose-built venue with a great bar and spectacular views over the city.

July’s show featuring Craig Murray and John Robertson was packed, with our biggest ever Bratislava audience. We expect this show to be extremely popular again, so we strongly recommend making reservations early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are just €10 per person and there is a 10% discount for those who buy tickets online in advance via www.babybluebanana.com. Those who prefer to pay in cash at the door can still reserve seats by simply emailing: reservations@babybluebanana.com to let us know how many tickets you need.

  1. Milan Sedliak is simply awful and not even funny . As MC for the evening, he is meant to warm the audience up, not freeze them to death with his limited accented English and poor delivery of joke telling ( which he believes is quite good ) His life stories are just not even humorous .

I am afraid to say , Milan is like a fish out of water and should consider if this job is really for him as he has to work so hard for a giggle , and is just out played by the other acts, who just have to turn up on stage to get a laugh .

  2. I enjoyed the shoving the cash up the cat’s arse gag and the cheating blow-up doll gag, but otherwise Milan Sedliak was once again the star for me, as soon as this guy gets some material, people are going to be quite literally pissing themselves. I think maybe adding a convincing fart noise to his repetorie would help as well, as this is always a winner w/ Blava audiences. Special mention to Dr. Evil, look forward to the next one.
