Banks Switch to SEPA, Skeleton Service at Weekend

Banks in Slovakia may be on limited service this weekend from Friday to Saturday as they switch to the Single Europe Payments Area (SEPA), with online systems probably down for longer periods, and some for the whole weekend.

Banks are therefore asking clients not to set up new standing debit orders, while assuring clients that their payment cards and ATM will still work as normal.

Some branches may also close, and any payments made during the transition period will not be processed until 3 February, so any key payments should be made earlier. You should ask at your bank or check their website to find out the specific outages of each bank.
