People living in Bratislava have been whining these days about the sharp hike in bus ticket prices, and the situation is about to get worse as the public bus company DPB, a.s. announces further cuts in the number of routes and the frequency of buses.

The company’s new management announced back in July that the company could be looking at a loss of around EUR 12 million for the year, and so the latest cut in services is aimed at reducing this operating loss by almost half. Regarding the latest plans, the management said they would be trying to reduce line frequency rather than cancel routes.

The company has therefore presented a plan to Bratislava City Hall by which the company would be cutting the number of bus kilometers by an amazing 1.5 million km by the end of this year. With City Hall’s agreement, the company hopes to stabilise its unstable financial situation in this way.
