Bratislava will be host to an epic day of sport this Saturday, 12 November as teams from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland battle it out with the Slovak Shamrocks in a Gaelic Football Championship for clubs in Central & Eastern Europe.

This historic game is easy on the eye with players using a multitude of skills. Gaelic Football can probably best be described as a mixture of soccer and rugby, although it predates both these games. The sport originates from Ireland, but has followers around the world.

The 8-hour sport marathon kicks off at 10am with the men and women’s finals closing out the day late afternoon. The newly established Slovak Shamrocks will prepare to welcome over 100 players and fans alike to the venue of FK Rapid as 8 men’s and ladies teams travel to Bratislava for the culmination of a long, hard, but ultimately rewarding Gaelic Football season.
With many different nationalities represented, including Australian, French, Russian and Serbian, it promises to be a memorable event and a first for Bratislava. The tournament venue is situated in a quiet part of Ruzinov; Telocvicna 11, 821 05 Bratislava at Stadion Rapid, a mixed-use stadium that is also temporary home ground to the better known FC Petrzalka.
The fun continues into the evening with a special reception and after-party at Goblins Pub, Dunajska 29. We hope those that come to Stadion Rapid will be drawn in by the fun of the game and the comfort of the surroundings. It’s an all inclusive club and on 12 November we hope you can come along and support Bratislava’s very own Slovak Shamrocks in this historic Gaelic sport at the heart of Europe.
Don’t miss this unique event and great day out for family and friends.
