Bratislava Welcomes Uprising For Third Time

The prominent Slovak music festival Uprising Reggae Festival will once again this year give the kind of farewell to the summer as it should be. The top of reggae, dance hall, hip-hop, ska, dubstep, jungle and Latino will perform on the 26th and 27th August at Zlaté piesky in Bratislava.

Among the headliners of the festival, which opens its gates for the fourth time, are German singer Gentleman, who scores regularly with his hits in the worldwide charts. Hot Jamaica will have several representatives at the festival, with Capleton and Lutan Fyah not the only ones to set off the burning rhythms of reggae, but also Perfect Giddimani and Burro Banton.

Europe will be also strongly represented, and apart from the already mentioned Gentleman there will be General Levy, Foreign Beggars and Lady Chann from Great Britain, Looptroop Rockers from Sweden and Eastwest Rockers from Poland.

The Czech-Slovak scene will be defended by Prago Union, Oliver Lowe, AMO & Band and Medial Banana. Innovations this year will include a fourth stage, which will combine with the Main Stage, Dancehall Stage and Mungo’s Station, as well as a DJ’s zone dedicated to ska, Balkan and World music. You can find the complete programme of Uprising on the festival’s web page.

The Festival Uprising is not just about music. It is a lifestyle and many diverse and interesting accompanying events for visitors have been organised (football tournament, race on paddleboats, exhibition of bikers and skaters, dancehall workshop, yoga playground or capoeira classes). Uprising can be proud of the unique atmosphere, awesome venue and beautiful environment near a natural lake.

Festival fans planning their summer would definitely include for the end of the season the dates of 26th and 27th August. If there is any place in Bratislava where supporters of good music from all around Slovakia and the surrounding countries meet every year, that place is Zlaté piesky. If there is any festival that leaves you feeling warm in your heart and with a smile on your face, it must be Uprising.
