The government wasn’t too happy with the tone of the 2010 annual report from the Attorney General’s office as it was way too politically biased against the current coalition.
The extensive report, comprising over 150 pages, was full of politically-based comments. For instance, the report talks about how the Office was satisfied with the previous government but that after a change of power in June 2010 the Office was no longer happy.
The report also claims that the current government set out on a witch-hunt against the Office and former attorney general Dobroslav Trnka, spurred on also by the media.
It’s true that the coalition was pretty desperate to oust Trnka from the post, but maybe this report in itself proves why, as the Attorney General’s Office should be politically impartial, and former AG Trnka was not exactly neutral towards the current coalition either.
