Combined cycle plant in Bratislava given the go-ahead

The Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Regional development has given the green light to the construction of a combined cycle plant on the estate of oil refinery Slovnaft in Bratislava, after passing the Environmental Impact Assessment procedure, but subject to a list of ten standard requirements, like substitute tree planting, noise reduction measures etc.

The plant should have an installed capacity of 880 MW and will be financed mostly by the investor CM European Power International, a joint venture of energy groups MOL and ČEZ. The construction costs of the plant are projected at around EUR 720 million and once finished will generate about 7 TWh of electricity a year.
