Dukla Banska Bystrica 0-0 Slovan Bratislava
FC Nitra 0-2 MSK Zilina
Tatran Presov 1-0 ViOn Zlate Moravce
MFK Ruzomberok 2-2 MFK Kosice
Spartak Trnava 4-0 MFK Dubnica
FK Senica 1-1 DAC Dunajska Streda
DAC hold Senica to a draw meaning Zilina have once again moved 6 points clear at the top after easing to a 2-0 away victory in Nitra (goals from Oravec & Jež). Trnava thrash Dubnica whose mere existence is currently hanging by a thread & Tatran Presov react to Kosice’s slight improvement in form by beating ViOn. Slovan are now 5 points behind Trnava & Senica and 11 behind Zilina after a disappointing 0-0 draw away at Banska Bystrica. The match in Banska Bystrica was by all accounts, an evenly matched contest, Slovan must now be starting to get increasibly worried at the lack of goalscoring options – just 3 goals scored in their last 5 games, and 2 of those were against lower-league opposition in the cup..
The teams are sorting themselves out now in the league and I fear that Zilina will just continue to open this gap at the top as the season progresses. Zilina are so comfortable in the league at the moment that I can see them having it sewn up several weeks before the end of the season. Traditionally Zilina haven’t done much in the cup, but my suspicion is that this season they will also have more than half an eye on the league _ cup double.
It will be interesting to see what DAC do in the 3 remaining games before the winter break and I fancy them to be pushing hard for a European place. Also the bottom remains interesting. Tatran won today and Kosice have 4 points from their last 2 matches. The dark clouds over Kosice seem to have reached Dubnica and their form on the field together with their precarious position off it leave big fears over the future of this club.
In League 1, AS Trencin are now 11 points clear after they beat Puchov 3-0, at least Puchov were able to honour the fixture this week. Petrzalka dropped points again drawing 2-2 with Lucenec.
