Austrian-based company Cargo-Partner will soon launch the operation of its latest distribution centre in Dunajaka Streda. The centre covers 6 hectares and will eventually have 30,000m2 of warehousing, with a capacity for around 50,000 palettes just 46km from Bratislava.
The facility is adjacent to the Metrans container terminal, which handles freight from the northern ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven, as well as the southern ports of Koper and Rijeka.
The new operation will produce significant savings, not only in daily operational costs, but also CO2 emissions (estimated at 440 tons per year), as it allows the company to avoid their cargo hub located in Bratislava and handle freight directly from the adjacent Metrans terminal.
The investment worth some EUR 21.5 million is expected to generate around 100 jobs, informed managing director of Cargo-partner’s Slovakian subsidiary, Tibor Majzun.
