The foreign minister Mikulas Dzurinda will head to Ukraine tomorrow, 27 August, to meet with the Governor of the Regional State Administration of Transcarpathia.
While visiting the Transcarpathia region, Dzurinda will visit a local school where the tuition language is Slovak, meet local representatives of the Slovak minority and visit the Slovak consulate in Uzhgorod.
“The aim of the visit is to boost regional cooperation between the Trascarpathia region and the regions of East Slovakia, and so support the Slovak minority there” according to a statement from the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Department , Juraj Tomaga, adding that the visit will generate greater opportunities and co-operation for the area of East Slovakia.
