EBRD grants EUR 90m for energy efficiency

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has earmarked EUR 90 million to support approved projects on energy efficiency in Slovakia as part of the Slovsef II credit facility.

The amount will be split between projects on renewable energy sources and housing (EUR 72 million) and on projects aimed at increasing energy efficiency in industry (EUR 18 million).

In total the EBRD has endorsed 65 projects concerning housing, mostly for insulating blocks of flats.

The EBRD has been granting Slovakia with loans mostly to decommission its outdated V1 nuclear power units at Jaslovske Bohunice nuclear power plant, with 15 financial transfers to date worth EUR 204 million.
