English Comedy in Bratislava

Baby Blue Banana is proud to present the next in the series of monthly English stand-up comedy nights, this time in Bratislava and Nitra.

We continue our monthly shows in association with Expanzia.sk with two more top international acts flying over specially to perform for us at 8pm on 23 November at a new venue, Goblins Pub, Dunajska 29, Bratislava, and then on 24 November at the Staré divadlo Karola Spišáka, Ulica pešieho pluku 7, Nitra.

Alan Francis (UK) & Vince Fluke (CA)

Alan Francis first came to the notice of comedy audiences when he won Channel 4’s “So You Think You’re Funny” Award in 1991. Since then his reputation has grown as a writer, comedian and actor. A master of acutely observed character monologues, combining the sinister and surreal with brilliant wit, Francis is a master of intelligent comedy. He combines his skills in using different voices, accents and impressions to great effect and his own mild Edinburgh accent makes him an ideal and easy to understand performer for international audiences.

Alan Francis is one of the most successful performers and writers in British comedy currently. He wrote and co-starred in four series of Alistair McGowan’s Big impression for the BBC, winning the award as Best Entertainment show at the British Comedy Awards. He has also appeared on the Alan Partridge show, the Alexie Sayle show and many more of the top comedy shows on British television. On radio too, he has starred in many of the most popular shows including the Alan Davies show, The Treatment and The Buzz and received a Sony Award nomination for writing and starring in BBC Radio 5’s “Colin”.

What the critics say about Alan Francis:

“Sardonic wit at its best. Go See!” – The List

“A delightful hour, excellently executed” – Evening Standard

“Beautifully observed performances” – The Times

Lucky for the Pope that Vince Fluke discovered comedy and decided not to join the Swiss Guard like his Swiss parents wanted. Raised in the wild western Canadian Rockies, Fluke is a recent comedy import to Europe. Possessing a sardonic wit and a knack for finding the lighter side of dark matter, Vince has been a hit at comedy clubs and festivals across North America since he was fresh out of secondary school. In 1992, he won the award as funniest new comic in Canada and numerous other awards and accolades followed.

In 2006, he ventured over to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was such a hit that he decided to stay in the UK, where he has continued to live and perform with great success on the British comedy circuit.

We are delighted to use this show in Bratislava to launch our new association with Goblins Pub, where we hope to bring many more events in the future, including open-mic comedy shows and English pub quizzes.

Our most recent show starring Earl Okin was a great hit, with our biggest ever audience in Bratislava and we expect this show to be extremely popular, so we strongly recommend making reservations early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are just €9 per person in advance or €10 on the door. Tickets can be purchased online in advance via www.babybluebanana.com or in cash from the venue, Goblins. Those who prefer to pay in cash at the door can still reserve seats by simply emailing: reservations@babybluebanana.com to let us know how many tickets you need.

  1. so you get in for free ……..?

Does that make you objective do you think ?

  2. Do Media Partners get any free tickets to distribute among valued readers, or does the EIC and his wife just get in for free ?

    1. Media partner always get into the events that they promote, so they can answer hecklers like yourself, even though you have never been to any of the shows. No additional free tickets for you, sorry.
