EUR 18M Tender for Slovak-Hungarian Gas Interconnecter

Slovak gas transmission system operator Eustream has announced public procurement for the supply of material and work for the planned Slovak-Hungarian Gas Interconnector worth a projected value of around EUR 18 million.

Only around 20km of the 115km stretch of pipeline linking the two transmission systems is in Slovakia and the company is looking for a supplier of the pipeline and the work.

The project, backed also by the European Commission, is part of the diversification and integration plans within the EU and will represent part of a north-south gas line, giving Slovakia more options on gas supplies and increasing energy security in Europe.

Sufficient transmission capacities for the new pipeline have already been reserved for the project to move forward, with the launch of operation expected at the beginning of 2015.
