The new foreign minister Miroslav Lajcak will be tackling the issue of bilateral relations between Slovakia and Hungary on an official visit to Hungary tomorrow.
Lajcak will meet up with his Hungarian counterpart Janos Martonyi to discuss ways to improve relations between the two countries. “The main goal of the visit is to reaffirm the interest of the new Slovak government in good neighbourly and constructive relations with Hungary, with an emphasis on further progress in the broad positive agenda that exists between the two countries” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press department informed SITA newswire.
The visit coincides with the ministerial awards Good Neighbourly Relations and Understanding, which will be awarded for the fourth time to people or institutions that have boosted mutual Slovak-Hungarian ties. The issue of dual citizenship may be touched on but not addressed, and so just like at the meeting of PM Orban and PM Fico, the two foreign ministers will be focusing chiefly on positive issues.
