As part of its plan the Ministry will be closing various cultural institutions around Europe, including those in Paris, Berlin, Rome and Vienna, reports daily Pravda. Diplomats will replace the institutions as cultural envoys.

Despite the cuts, a new representative office is about to open in Ukraine and the institutions in neighbouring capitals Prague, Warsaw and Budapest will continue to operate.
