German President Christian Wulff starts a two-day official visit to Slovakia today, during which he will be received by his Slovak counterpart President Ivan Gasparovic.

President Wulff’s programme tomorrow includes meetings with Prime Minister Iveta Radicova, foreign affairs minister Mikulas Dzurinda and parliamentary chairman Richard Sulik.

Following the formalities, the German president will then head to the Spis region in East Slovakia to address the so-called Carpathian Germans, who settled here over 800 years ago and still preserve much of their Germanic language and culture.
