Pretty gloomy prospects are projected for Slovakia this year according to an article in Pravda daily today, which forecasts a downturn in industrial orders, rising unemployment and weaker economic growth.
The daily approached various analysts, including David Derenik from Unicredit Bank, who feels that unemployment will pose the biggest problem in Slovakia this year, referring to the fact that Presov region alone is home to over 50,000 long-term unemployed (more than 2 years). The unemployment rate in the country stands at 15%, and analysts don’t expect any kind of recovery until around 2014.
