The news was announced today by interior minister Robert Kaliňák, putting an end to the nomination of Stanislav Jankovič to the post, as his name has been associated with a pending investigation into abuse of position. The case was recently closed by the Regional prosecutor in Banska Bystrica.

Kaliňák says the doubts about Jankovič were unfounded and that he would still work closely with him. “We agreed that the pressure from the media would not exactly be the best start for the new police leadership” explained Kaliňák, adding that Jankovič was an excellent police officer with a good work record.

  1. “excellent police officer with a good work record” – he will be getting the push then. BnM needs someone at the helm of the police who is blind, deaf and definitely “his man”.
