Government Cancels State of Emergency

Now that protesting doctors have started signing their new employment contracts and returning to work en masse, the government decreed an end to the state of emergency today.

Health minister Ivan Uhliarik

Health minister Ivan Uhliarik presented the motion to the government as there was “no further need for a state of emergency”, which was imposed last week to deal with the healthcare crisis due to the absence of around 1,400 doctors who had resigned in protest over pay, among other things.

The doctors trade union LOZ announced that all doctors had now basically returned to work, and that they knew of no cases where doctors had not been accepted back into their jobs.
