Slovakia is in the running for another boost to the economy and employment. This time IBM is looking for the venue for its new operation, which could see the IT giant’s workforce in Slovakia almost double, from 4,000 at present to around 7,000.
Slovakia is one of five in the shortlist and has a fair chance of being chosen. If this were to happen, IBM would allegedly immediately create 200 jobs at its new operation, with the plan to expand it up to 3,000 over the space of three years. The decision is being made just now by IBM bosses in New York.
Should Slovakia be chosen, the company would not extend its operation in Bratislava, but launch it in another city like Zilina or Kosice.
