Yesterday the Statistical Office SR published the inflation rate for Slovakia by EU methodology, quoting a 0.7 percent rise year-on-year in May, which is the same figure as seen in April. The average inflation rate over the past year comes to 0.3 percent.
The fastest rising prices in May concerned alcohol and tobacco (up 7.6 percent), followed by services in healthcare and education (4.5 percent), while the biggest slump was seen in prices of furniture, household goods and maintenance work (3.8 percent).
The figures using national methodology are slightly different, quoting inflation as down slightly from 1.3 percent y/y in April to reach 1.2 percent in May.
