Kovo trade union plans protests in BA and Kosice

Even though the lengthy tripartite talks last week reached agreement on certain issues, the KOVO trade union in Slovakia is still not satisfied with the shape of the revised draft of the Labour Code and so will go ahead with planned protests.

This week the trade union plans two rallies, the first of which will be in front of the Government Office in Bratislava on Wednesday, with the second in Kosice on Friday. Member of the trade union board, Jozef Balica, says the protest in Kosice should not affect the Ice Hockey World Championships, which start on the same day.

The rallies will continue until a final agreement is reached on the final draft of the revised Labour Code, with overtime work allowances and notice periods being among the remaining sticky points.
