The deadline by which the Ministry of Finance has to submit the State Budget Act for next year has been extended by the government from 15 August until the end of September. Minister of Finance, Ivan Miklos, blames the delay on the former government of Robert Fico.
“The previous government hadn’t done any work on the budget and also hadn’t prepared the budgetary parameters as it should have by law. We need some extra time,” said Miklos. He also said he planned to present his consolidation plan for 2011, by which he hopes to cut the public finance deficit by as much as 2.5 percent of the GDP and so get the country’s economy back on track.
