An article in daily SME claims that the state could make massive savings worth tens of millions of euro if electronic auctions were used by ministries to procure telecommunications services.
The government is already starting to make use more of electronic auctions, but not as much as it could. For mobile phone services, two e-auctions have taken place in the past two years, with the first cutting costs by half and the second by nearly three quarters.
In response to the question of why electronic auctions are not used more often, ministries said merely that their public procurement processes are conducted in line with the law.
