Interior minister Daniel Lipsic and police commissioner Jaroslav Spisiak have signed an agreement in Washington with deputy chief of the FBI Sean Joyce that will see Slovak police officers get special training from FBI experts.
The main focus of the training will be on ways to combat top economic criminality, with the hope that punishing cases of financial fraud will increase in volume in Slovakia. Minister Lipsic pointed out, though, how the perpetrators are using increasingly sophisticated software and methods for their frauds.
Hence the arrival of the FBI, from which the Slovak police force hope to gain valuable experience in this area. The details of the co-operation will be mapped out in the coming weeks.
