The government finally passed the revised and much-debated State Language Act last week, slimming down sanctions and other strict provisions put in place by the previous government.
Although Most-Hid can be fairly satisfied, the government did not accept the request of its MP Ondrej Dostal to completely eliminate fines from the law, leaving some in place information concerning public administration or if posing a threat to life, health and public welfare.
The fines range from EUR 50 to EUR 2,500 maximum and will be levied by the Ministry of Culture.
