This morning at 8.30 Prime Minister Iveta Radicova received NATO Secretary general Anders Rasmussen to the Government Office to discuss Slovakia’s role in the NATO and the priorities of the Alliance. At 9.30 Radicova and Rasmussen then gave a quick press briefing on the talks.
Rasmussen will also meet with President Ivan Gasparovic, parliamentary speaker Richard Sulik, and the ministers of foreign affairs, defence and the interior to discuss issues of security and defence and Slovakia’s role in NATO.
During his visit, Rasmussen will also give a speech to university students and security experts at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Bratislava as part of an event organised by the Slovak Atlantic Commission.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen became the 12th NATO Secretary General on August 1, 2009, succeeding Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, who held the post from 2004 until 2009.
