NBS to submit efficiency analysis

Yesterday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee voted to have the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) submit an analysis comparing its productivity with counterpart banks in the eurozone. Committee chairman Jozef Kollar (SaS) announced the news to journalists today, saying the Slovak central bank had 60 days to prepare the analysis.

Kollar said that if the report is drawn up well and reveals favourable results, it can only do the bank good. NBS vice-governor Viliam Ostrozlik argued that it would not be easy for the bank to produce a report that compares its results with those of other central banks because that kind of information is difficult to obtain and available only from public sources.
