Yesterday, 13 October, the cabinet gave the green light to a proposal of finance minister Ivan Miklos aimed at making he granting of state subsidies more transparent and raise their efficiency.
The plan includes changing how subsidies are allocated and how information about them is distributed, with a new system where applications will be reviewed anonymously. Ministries have been charged with implementing the changes by the beginning of next year, and they are to set up advisory boards to deal with the agenda.
Individual ministries will also post more exact information about available subsidies on their websites, including the budgets earmarked for subsidies, calls for applications and links to associated norms. Other detailed information about who gets what will also be published.
Over EUR 304 million was allocated last year for subsidies from the state budget, while this year the government has earmarked EUR 199.5 million for this purpose.
