New tourism association hopes to be government’s expert partner

A new association of employers in tourism ZCR is being set up by eight of largest organisations on the Slovak market, with its inauguration general meeting set for 17 January.

The organisations decided on the move so they could generate more lobbying power in a sector that they feel is undervalued and neglected. The ZCR statement states how there is a fundamental lack of awareness of how tourism contributes to the Slovak economy.

The statement goes on to say how this lack of awareness is evident in politicians, who the ZCR feels do not fully appreciate the importance and potential of the sector. The ZCR hopes to become the government’s expert partner for tourism and so help the government deal with tourism in a more practical way, while formulating the needs and development concept for the sector.
