No co-operation between secret service and the police

At the inauguration of the new head of the secret service SIS at Presidential Palace, which saw Karol Mitrik take up the post, President Ivan Gasparovic expressed his wish to see good co-operation between the secret service and other security bodies.

The President said: “I believe that other bodies will understand this as well, especially the Ministry of Interior and the Chief of Police”. He made the comments because a few days early the Chief of Police and renowned mafia-buster, Jaroslav Spisiak had mentioned how the police could never depend on the SIS.

“We basically don’t count on their help. It is good enough if they don’t work against us, and then they can do whatever they want. If they did by some chance want to help us, though, we would welcome this”, said Spisiak.
