OECD Secretary General Gurria praises government efforts

Gurria with President Gasparovic

OECD Secretary General, Angelo Gurria, had a meeting today with Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova, at which he commended the economic progress made by Slovakia in recent years.

He also praised Radicova’s government for its efforts toward fiscal consolidation and reforms, which he feels sends out strong signals to potential businesses that Slovakia is a solid place for business, reports SITA newswire. Gurria came personally to Slovakia to present the OECD country report.

Following the meeting, PM Radicova told journalists that Slovakia’s biggest hurdles in the years to come will be unemployment, reform of the pay-as-you-go pension pillar, boosting employment of the young, education and research.
