After five years of operation, Kia Motors Slovakia has produced its one millionth car engine at its plant in Zilina.
The company has already produced over 820,000 vehicles as well, including the popular Kia cee’d and Sportage models.
Of the 1,350 engine units produced each day, 60% are petrol, with the rest being diesel. The plant currently has a capacity for 300,000 units per year, but this should soon increase to 450,000 after it completes a EUR 100 million expansion investment.
“We are particularly proud to have produced one million engines in less than five years since production was launched,” said Myung-Chul Chung, President and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia.
