PM gets Glamour Mag “Woman of the Year” award

Prime Minister Iveta Radicova has won one of the five Glamour Magazine “Woman of the Year” awards and will collect her award at Carnegie Hall in New York this coming Monday, 11 November, reports TASR news wire.

Glamour will honour five heads of state for their individual achievements for their countries, with all five being classed among the most powerful women on earth.

In addition to Radicova, the prestigious award will also go to Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, Croatia’s Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

“I am so thrilled to be recognising these five outstanding leaders,” said Cindi Leive, editor-in-chief of Glamour. “Each of these women has demonstrated tremendous leadership, and their work is an inspiration to girls and women everywhere,” she continued.

Previous award-winners include the politicians Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton, U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama, actresses Nicole Kidman and Susan Sarandon, tennis player Venus Williams and singer Madonna.
