Slovakia could see another major competitor enter its energy market, as Poland’s second-biggest utility, Tauron TPE.WA, is on the hunt for potential acquisitions in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The company openly expressed its interest yesterday, 29 September. “We want to change out strategy by the end of the year in order to adapt to changing market conditions. We are prepared for acquisitions on the Czech and Slovak markets,” said company deputy head Krzysztof Zamasz.
At present there is a lot of shuffling going on between energy companies in the region, with companies buying and selling assets and operations from each other in a strategic dance.
Tauron started trading energy on the Power Exchange Central Europe market on Wednesday.
