Today President Ivan Gasparovic went under the knife for an operation to replace his hip bone at the L. Derera university hospital in Bratislava.
The operation went ahead with no complications, and the President should spend the week in hospital recovering. He was under for 2 hours but came round in cheerful mood, which the doctors put down also to the anaesthetic.
The doctors at the hospital say the President had to join the waiting list like everyone else. The President hopes to be able to play tennis and go skiing again, as he had to give up active sport because of hip bone problems two years ago already.
