This week saw some reshuffling of Slovak ambassadors abroad and the receipt of four new ambassadors from other countries in Slovakia.
President Ivan Gasparovic received the credentials of incoming ambassadors for Portugal (Joao L. N. Pinheiro), Switzerland (Christian Fotsch) and India (Rajiva Misra), reports TASR newswire. Sweden’s new plenipotentiary to Slovakia, Hans T. H. Lundborg, also presented his papers to the President, but Sweden no longer houses an embassy here, but in Vienna instead.
The President handed out appointments to six new Slovak ambassadors abroad, namely Radomir Bohac (in Denmark), Vasil Grivna (in Poland), Jaroslav Chlebo (in the Netherlands), Miloslav Nad (in Iraq), Ivan Surkos (in Syria) and Jan Varso (in Serbia).
President Gasparovic called on the new ambassadors to spread the good name of the Slovak Republic and to look for all possible ways of positive co-operation.
