Today, 16 August, the Slovak Stastistical Office reported that the growth in the prices of goods and services in Slovakia measured according to EU methodology were up slightly from 0.7% year-on-year in June to 1% in July. Although only slight, this is still the fastest growth pace seen since the summer of 2009.
In July prices were up 0.1% month-on-month. The highest increases in July were in alcohol and tobacco (up 7.7%), followed by education (4.5%) and healthcare (4.2%), while furniture prices were down 3.5% year-on-year.
Inflation was up 0.1% month-on-month according to national methodology, from 1% year-on-year in June to 1.1% in July.
