Under pressure over inappropriate comments made earlier this week, senior officer at the Government plenipotentiary for Roma issues, Stefan Sarkozy, resigned from his post.
Sarkozy’s resignation comes after civil activist Alojz Hlina and Malacky councillor Juraj Riha contested comments made by Sarkozy on how Malacky resident Oskar Dobrovodsky brought trouble with his Roma neighbours on himself. Hlina and Riha even sent an open letter to PM Radicova demanding that he be dismissed.
Sarkozy was to act as intermediary concerning regarding problematic Roma residents in Malacky. He said he always wanted the problem in Malacky to be resolved without emotions in an effort to find a solution that was acceptable to all parties.
